Gay Marriage in DC?!

On March 3rd same sex couples began to apply for marriage licenses. After a long struggle for the right to marry the LGBT community won in Washington DC.
I am surprised and happy about this.
I had no idea this had happened until I went to school the next day and a friend told me. She was surprised and happy too. I think people were shocked because it seems as if the LGBT community is in a rut right now. Some states moving forward and while others are at a stand still. Also, I think there is not an optimistic view on this in general. If you ask a person who is pro-same sex marriage they will say the LGBT community is getting there slowly but surely, and an anti-same sex marriage person would say there is no way that it is going any further. The media even portrays this as a slightly shocking victory.
Even the news sites who are not acting socked they still say things like “Gay couples find one marriage barrier gone, others still rigid”.

Though a positive thing that happened after same sex marriage was passed Bishop John Chane said “We are of equal value in the eyes of God and any one of us may be called by the Holy Spirit into holy relationships…”

I think we need to have faith and keep our hopes up. People who have stood against same sex marriage for years are finally excepting it. It will get easier as time goes on I think. The younger generations are much more ccepting.

I am happy for this huge step in the right direction and hope this leads to more states allowing same sex marriage; more open mindedness.
