It Gets Better Project
I heard about this cool new project I want to tell you about: Dan Savage (author of a column called “Savage Love”) and his husband have launched a YouTube video project on which they have LGBTQ people talk about how they were bullied in school and how life gets better and how they want all of LBGTQ to hold on. These people talk about how we have rights, even as kids and teenagers. You’re not alone, and it gets better.
When I watch this, I remember how I had been picked on in school. In spite of that, I found a space that was safe with no judgement and where I can be myself at Identity. I found people that love me and care and understand me. I got through. This project shows that you’re not alone and you’re not the only one who has been bullied and no matter what, life gets better. Hang on to your pride and remember there are people that love you and care. You don’t need to leave this world—we need you.

About me
Identity is a community youth center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Same Gender Loving, Transgender and Questioning youth and their Straight Allies in the Southern Tier of New York State. The Identity center serves as a safe place for LGBTQ teens ages 14-20 to find support, ask questions, hang out, and express themselves.
